This directory contains snapshots and pre-releases of GNU libc
2.x.y. Please note the numbering scheme:

glibc-YYMMDD (e.g. glibc-980130) is a snapshot of the current
             development tree and might not even compile.  Please
             read the README file for details on snapshot.  We don't
             advise to install this version, it's primary use is for
             the glibc developers.
glibc-2.0.9y (e.g. glibc-2.0.91) is a test release of glibc 2.1.  Those
             releases should work but need further testing.
glibc-2.0.XpreY (e.g. glibc-2.0.7pre1) is a prerelease of glibc
             2.0.  We encourage people to test this and report any
             problems to libc-alpha@cygnus.com.  If no problems are found
             with this one, it will be the next release.

Btw. glibc 2.0 is the current stable version and 2.1 will be the next
one.  There's no distinction of stable and unstable trees based on the
version number as with the Linux kernel.
